P90X Certification Review

P90X Certification

P90X Certification

P90X Certification – By now you would need to be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of P90X.  But have you heard you can now get your P90X certification?  Yes, it’s true.  You can now take your fitness and nutrition knowledge of P90X to the next level and offer up that much more guidance and support to your clients.  I had a chance to do just that while in Las Vegas in June.  It was held two days before the annual Beachbody Summit.   What a fun and jam packed two days that was!  Since it was a larger class and Tony Horton was already in town for the Summit, we were able to get some additional hands on training from him and some extra group workouts.  He even did a mini-seminar on staying motivated.  The P90X Certification is broken down into two parts:  the P90X Qualification online course and the P90X Certifcation class.

The P90X Qualification cover 11 chapters of information jam packed with both audio and visual presentations.  It is entirely online and on your own time.  You are quizzed at the end of each chapter.  Once you pass the Qualification, you are ready to move on and take the 2 day P90X Certification class.  You will receive a diploma, eBadge and logo to use on Facebook and your website.

What does the P90X certification cover?

The class covers quite a bit of information over the short two day workshop.  You’ll learn and be tested on everything from bones, muscles, joints, nutrition and how to identify certain moves for your clients and how to help them with proper form.  You will even need to point out where the gluteus maximus and gastrocnemius is!

You will go into detail on the history of P90X, the different phases, supplements, customizing P90X and more.  We even covered a major topic that everyone struggles with from time to time: motivation.

One nugget of information that I found especially helpful was the FAQ’s covered in detail on the P90X program.  I get them a lot and we drilled into them a bit more.  Questions like:

“How long should I stay in each phase?”

“What equipment do I need to start?”

“Do I have to follow the nutrition plan?”

“What is starvation mode?”

These are all very important questions and so common when someone is starting out with the program.

Why get my P90X certification?

By getting certified you will be able to:

  • Train clients in P90X
  • Teach P90X group exercise classes
  • Establish yourself as a P90X fitness professional
  • Earn NASM continuing education credits

How can I get my P90X certification?

The P90X Qualification is an online test that needs to be passed before you can show up and go through the certification class.

The P90X Qualification is $99 and the P90X Certification workshop is $399.  It would make the most sense to be a Beachbody coach if you weren’t already to receive the discount of 10% off.  Your total would come to $89.10 + $359.10 = $448.20.   A small investment but it will more than pay off very quickly in added knowledge and credibility.  It will also help you open doors to many other opportunities that you may not even expect!

If this sounds like something you could really benefit from and could help you take your fitness business to the next level, create a free account with me and then go here to get started with your P90X Certification today!

Updated News on P90X Certification and Powder Blue Productions

Not only that but just recently Beachbody announced a merger with Chalene Johnson’s company Power Blue Productions.  Chalene originated all the group fitness classes for Turbo Kick, PiYo Strength and Hip Hop Hustle.  To say that the certification and growth of those classes is a success would be an understatement.  I’m excited to have Chalene on board with this and to lean on her extensive knowledge in the group fitness industry.  Other certifications will be announced in the near future.  You will be able to have your INSANITY, Brazil Butt Lift, PiYo, Turbo Kick, Hip Hop Hustle and P90X Certification.  Think of how many more people you will be able to help with those credentials on your side!

Les Mills Pump – Half Marathon Hybrid Training Schedule

Les Mills Pump – Half Marathon Hybrid Schedule

Hybrid Schedule – Les Mills Pump

After taking on a few smaller runs, I felt it was time to take on a new challenge.  I registered for my first half marathon!  As soon as I did that I knew that I needed a strict schedule to keep me on track.  Leading up to this decision were numerous rounds of P90X, a couple 5k’s, the Get Lucky 7k, Get in Gear 10k and a mix of INSANITY, Asylum, Turbo Fire, a Tough Mudder and now Les Mills Pump.  Yes, I did say Turbo Fire.  It remains as one the toughest for me, mainly due to the amount of coordination that is required.

Save with the Les Mills Pump Challenge Pack.

Way before I started P90X and the other Beachbody workout programs, I was going to the local YMCA a few times a week.  They periodically held Body Pump classes in one of their studios.  I went to it several times and remember really liking it.  When Les Mills Pump came out, I knew I had to try it for my next challenge.  With the built in flexibility for walking / running, it seemed like a perfect match.

I sat down and put together a hybrid schedule to combine the two: Les Mills Pump and half marathon training hybrid.   Give it a try and let me know what you think.   Download your copy of the hybrid schedule here.
