Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Review

My experience with the Beachbody Ultimate Reset is now complete! In some ways, it feels like it flew by and others it felt like an eternity. I started off already familiar with kale, quinoa and some of the other foods but was introduced to many new foods as well.

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Review

My expectations going into this 3 week journey were as follows:

1.)  Not to lose too much weight.
2.)  Eliminate caffeine
3.)  Eliminate alcohol
4.)  Be more aware of snacking
5.)  Take my nutrition up another notch
6.).  Introduce more of a vegan diet
7.)   Reduce sugar and dairy
8.)  Continue with new healthy habits after complete and incorporate new vegan recipes

Beachbody Ultimate Reset Before And After Results

Beachbody Ultimate Reset Before And After Results

Not sure if the pictures show much difference but I could feel the change.

My Beachbody Ultimate Reset results:

I lost 8 pounds while being generous on my portions.   I think as a society, we all focus too much on calories and the number on the scale.   If we focus solely on eating non-processed foods and actual REAL food, we would be half way there.   The other-half is how we perceive “diets”, cleanses or a detox.   There is no such thing as a diet.   They aren’t meant to starve us, be short term or make us miserable.   If you are miserable with what you eat, trust me the weight won’t fall off like you may want.   It’s a process.   New habits aren’t formed overnight.   Its all about having the right mindset.   Being healthy is a LIFESTYLE not a fad or a 3 week fix.   What the Beachbody Ultimate Reset teaches you is how to form new habits, how healthy food can taste great and not come out of a box.

Live life, be healthy and don’t think you have to be a robot.  Splurge once in a while.   Just don’t make it the norm.

I don’t deprive myself of anything.  I eat food that tastes good and that is good for me.

What I learned:

You can get full on veggies and don’t need meat with every meal.
I didn’t die without caffeine.
I didn’t die without bananas.
Eating healthy DOES require more time but it very worth it from what you get back.
When I snack, many times it’s due to habit vs. my need to be fed.
I can form healthy habits the same way I can create bad ones.
Kale is great when steamed.
It was a lot of work that required numerous trips to the grocery store and planning.
I would rather make a few staple items like quinoa, broccoli and millet and have them for different dishes over the course of a few days than have a unique meal for every single meal.
I actually like drinking all of the supplements; especially the detox.
I’ve never felt “cleaner” in all of my life :-)
I wasn’t tired at night.
I missed working out.
Extra virgin olive oil is a great replacement for butter when making eggs.
I was reassured on the importance of nutrition.   It is the secret sauce to getting into great shape.   You can’t out work bad nutrition.
Wow, that’s a lot!  I guess I learned something!

My favorite meals:

Baked Tempeh
Toasted Millet
Avocado - Cucumber Soup
Fruit plate
Sweet Potato and Roasted Red Pepper Bisque
Tropical Strawberry Shakeology as a fruit plate replacement

Having a Vitamix made making the soups much easier.   That really turned out to be a great investment.

My least favorite meals:

Miso soup – It tasted ok but a little bland.  It also required a lot of prep time.  Beyond that I looked through the list of foods that I prepared through this process and I can say I liked them all.   Some less than others mainly due to extra prep to make them.

What’s Next?

Going forward I plan on using my experience doing the Beachbody Ultimate Reset to consume less animal protein, consume less caffeine and eat more veggies.   If you are ready to take the next step to better your health, consider going through the process.    Message me for more information on how to get started.   Beachbody put extensive research into forming the Ultimate Reset and it shows.

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Day 11 Review

Day 11 presented a bit more of a challenge for me.  I was feeling more tired and lethargic than I anticipated, especially after several days of feeling really good.   I guess that is the detox in process.   Just about half way through my journey!

Day 11 weight:  Still down 3.5 pounds.

A couple things I am still wanting:

a banana

yogurt

coffee

Trader Joe’s organic corn chips

Not bad items to want but not on the Beachbody Ultimate Reset menu list.  All in moderation!

Ready to go through the process yourself?  Check out more details here.

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Day 10 Review

Beachbody Ultimate Reset Day 10 Review

Beachbody Ultimate Reset Day 10 Review

Day 10 has come and gone and I am pretty much half way through the reset experience. Getting past the first week is proving to be the biggest challenge so far.

For breakfast I replaced the fruit plate with Tropical Strawberry Shakeology.   It really hit the spot.  Lunch was a salad once again with Sweet Potato and Roasted Red Pepper Bisque.  A few of the dinner’s are now showing up for lunch the next day, which is nice.  It makes it more efficient since I jcan make a little more the night before.   I was really looking forward to my snack today.   I had my normal apple but instead of almonds I was really crazy LOL and had a cup of blueberries with it.

Tonight’s dinner was Quinoa Lentil Pilaf with broccoli.  It turned out to be one of the more time consuming dinner’s from the last several days.  I underestimated the amount of time needed. Cutting up the veggies was a bit of work.  I ended up punting and subbed out extra veggies for the broccoli.  All in good balance with this whole process.  It paid off though.  It was pretty good!

Coming into this I ate what I would consider very healthy.  I have a few bad habits that I was looking to get under control and was curious about the vegan meal planning.  I already have a few of my favorite meals that I can see making often after the Beachbody Ultimate Reset is complete.

My weigh in today I came in as 3.5 pounds down.   My weight is fluctuating a little probably due to all the water I’ve been drinking.

On to day 11…..

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Week 1 Review

Beachbody Ultimate Reset week 1 review

Beachbody Ultimate Reset week 1 review

My week 1 of the Beachbody Ultimate Reset has come to an end.    I am excited to move on the week 2 starting tomorrow.    Day 1 was very rough since I did not wean myself off of caffeine before hand.  It was a tough day.   Days 2-4 or so were pretty similar but by about day 4, I was starting to feel much better.  My biggest cravings were caffeine, bananas and yogurt.  But as I eliminate yogurt, cheese, meats, and higher sugary fruits bananas, I am feeling very lean and light.

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Week 1 favorite meals

1.) Zucchini-cashew soup – one word… YUM!

2.) Roasted Root Medley – beets, yams and onions mostly.  Beets are quickly becoming one of my favorite foods.

3.) Oatmeal! Ok, not a newer recipe but I love oatmeal with fruit and even a little pure maple syrup and walnuts.

4.) Baked Salmon – turned out pretty well.

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Week 1 highlights

1.) Lost 4 pounds – I went into this not looking to lose weight and wanting to remain as close to where I am today.  I have been somewhat generous on my portions because of that and I still lost 4 pounds in a week.

2.) Detox/caffeine withdrawal -  After getting past a thick, hazy fog where I felt like I was even slurring my words; I have moved into the extra energy phase.  I have noticed that I am not as tired at night as I was before the Ultimate Reset.

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Week 1 challenges

1.) Caffeine withdrawal

2.) Making sure that I drank enough water

3.) Wanting to snack on everything – this is one of the main lessons learned with the Ultimate Reset.  Getting used to being more aware of of our food habits.  Many times we are eating out of boredom or stress or maybe even just because it is in front of us.

All in all, I feel so much better starting off week 2 than when I started.  It’s a bit more work, but it is sooo worth it!  Bring on week 2 of the Beachbody Ultimate Reset!

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – Day 2 review

I’m just getting starting with the Beachbody Ultimate Reset.   Today was day 2.  I have to say the biggest and most noticable struggles have been adjusting to no caffeine and the prep work to make the meals.   Since the reset doesn’t allow exercise besides light walking and yoga, I chose to sleep in some today.  I needed it.  I was in a complete fog but feel like I might be coming out of it.   It will be nice to get past it and feel some normal energy once again.

Nutrition menu for today:

Oatmeal, blueberries and plain yogurt for breakfast

Greek salad for lunch

Kale and tacos for dinner

I’ve also noticed how much that I was eating small little bites of this and that before I started the reset.  It adds up over the course of the day.  I chose to add the snack today of an apple and almond butter.  Who knew how good an apple could taste!  Bring on the Beachbody Ultimate Reset day 3 and sushi!

Beachbody Ultimate Reset – My Goals

Beachbody Ultimate Reset - My Goals

Beachbody Ultimate Reset - My Goals

The Beachbody Ultimate Reset is quickly approaching for me.  In just a few days I will take on a new journey.  I have now completed my Tough Mudder experience and ready to rock with the reset.

What is it?

The Beachbody Ultimate Reset is NOT a starvation diet.  It is NOT some type of cleanse where there is no food involved.  It is a complete foundation on how you approach food and forming new clean, detoxifying habits that you will use going forward.   Great recipes with real whole foods are a major part of the 3 week program.

What are my goals?

My goals as I start this are to detoxify my body, learn better eating habits, take my vitals to an elite status.  In addition to those goals, I am looking forward to eating vegan for 2 weeks.  I don’t think I have ever done that in my life.  Being healthy and fit is a journey of trial and error.  What works for one person doesn’t always work best for another.   It’s a matter of finding the perfect storym of nutrition and exercise.

My numbers as I start day 1:

Cholesterol – 157

Triglycerides – 98

HDL – 44

Cholesterol / HDL ratio – 3.6

LDL – 93

Glucose – 91

It’s time!  I am starting Monday, May 28th.  I’ll be sharing my experience right here.
