Hi! Welcome to getfitwithgreg.com. I am a software consultant by day and a Star Diamond Independent Beachbody coach by night. Yes, that’s right. An IT geek turned fitness coach. I want to help others achieve the success that I have been able to accomplish so far.
Growing up I was very active in team sports. I played baseball, football and basketball. I loved playing these sports but never was real interested in lifting weights. It wasn’t fun at all to me. In the fall of 2009 I was feeling more lethargic and tired than I figured was “normal”. I thought I should get it checked out by my doctor. After doing a few blood tests, her diagnosis was that I needed to do a sleep study. I sleep like a rock so I wasn’t real keen on doing it. Also, my insurance most likely didn’t cover it, costing me $$$. At about the same time i was getting more curious about the reoccurring P90X infomercials I kept seeing. It was that moment that triggered my decision: time to get busy living and get myself fit and ordered P90X. My goal was to “tone up”. That seems to be a typical goal for a guy. Not sure what this even really means when I look back on it.
Once I was on board with this plan, nothing was going to get in my way. My first 90 days gave me excellent results and I used that as my motivation to take it even further to 180 and then 270. Some of my results:
| Day | Weight | Waist | Blood Pressure | Cholesterol |
| 1 | 189 | 37″ | 148/73 | 226 |
| 90 | 178 | 34.25″ | ||
| 270 | 167 | 32.25″ | 110/70 | 167 |
These numbers were great to me but what couldn’t be measured was my attitude, confidence and how I was feeling overall. That really surprised me. My overall thought process was even changing. I went from dreading getting up early to truck over to the Y to getting up at 5:00 AM on some days without an alarm! Crazy.
One of the things that I am proudest of is that I am setting an example for my family. I have 2 daughters (7 and 10 years old) that are growing up knowing the importance of exercise and healthy food. That is priceless to me.
Since I started my fitness journey, I have completed 7 rounds of P90X, one of them an INSANITY hybrid, Asylum, Turbo Fire and a mix of Reb Abs and Tony’s One on One videos. I completed my first Tough Mudder in May and then my first half marathon in October of 2012. I then moved on to my Body Beast / Les Mills Combat / Derm Exclusive hybrid and working on adding additional muscle mass. This is just the beginning for me!
I recently had the honor of sharing my story in a local magazine.
